As Chair: Maintain budget for department, serve on council of chairs, supervise 1 full time faculty member and 4 adjunct, carry out all duties as chair.

Professor for Ceramics and Sculpture courses including freshman level to senior seminar.

 

Strong teaching focus on foundation level courses. Deeply involved with Arts and Humanities 150, an introduction to the arts and humanities of western civilization.

Maintain ceramic and sculpture studio.

Maintain all studio equipment including outdoor kiln, building of Raku kiln, electric kiln repairs, pugmill repair, organized sculpture lab and repair of all power equipment including table saw, band saw, as well as welding area.

Serve on assigned committees-Special Events-Chair of committee: 2002-2007/Ad Hoc- Arts and Humanities Festival committee-symbols of excellence.

Muskingum University Academic Accomplishments

 

  1. Complete development of the capstone course criteria for art majors. This document began development in 2007 and has concluded in 2012-13 with the groups, HLC, OBR and NCATE accepting the work as not needing further review for a ten year period. Continued data is being kept on each major/minor.

  2. Submitted completed art capstone assessment reports to NCATE and higher Learning Commission Review.

  3. Submitted 3 year report on assessment of program.

  4. Completed LAE Ceramics Assessment.

  5. Completed LAE Sculpture Assessment.

  6. Completed annual program reports from 2007-2012.

  7. Revamped Art History Courses to a junior level.

  8. Secured PHd faculty to teach Art History courses as chair.

  9. Developed Art History Topics Course, approved by curriculum committee.

  10. Budget remained in black from 2007-2012.

  11. Added new Electric kiln to Neptune Center.

  12.  Member of FAC for previous three years as of 2012.

  13. Previous committee-special events.

  14. Chair of Art Department since 2007. Attended all fall conference meetings, all chair meetings, and division meetings.

  15. Sponsored visiting artist Ron Koehler lecture and discussion of his professional work. Kappa Pi National Honorary President.

  16. Advise kappa pi art honorary annual events.

  17. Supervise and coordinate annual art sale.

  18. Sponsored Bruce Woyt workshop in ceramic art.

  19. Sponsored Jamie Lester Sculpture workshop.

  20. Take students to Cleveland and Pittsburgh to Museums.

  21. Recruit students throughout the year by conducting interviews and reviews of student’s art portfolios.

  22. Developed the Art Department award given at scholarship day. 2013 was the first year for this award to an outstanding art student selected by art faculty for an excellent senior exhibition of art.

  23. Taught in-service day in ceramic art for members of the art faculty from Barnesville School District.

  24. Gave lecture on the building and firing of wood kiln to faculty.

  25. Received grant from University for development of molds. This information was used in the ceramics 321 course.

  26. Sabbatical creative art and technical issues report.

Raku workshop, Zanesville Museum of Art, Zanesville, Ohio, July 20, Exhibiting 50 works of clay art. The day long event required that I build a Raku kiln on site, make and bring glazes, make and bring ceramic pottery, instruct the public on all techniques including post firing reduction. Also offered this service at the museum.
